    Bi annual Hispanic Network Breakfast

In 1990, San Dieguito Alliance recognized that our large Latino population had a need for Latino parents and service providers to network together and receive alcohol and drug information. We began providing the biannual Hispanic Network Breakfast, in the Spring and Fall.

At the Hispanic Network Breakfast, Latino parents, community leaders and service providers share their observations and concerns regarding alcohol and drug use in their families and neighborhoods, and strategize solutions. They also report on new educational, health, legal, and employment services for Latino families, and academic and leadership development programs for Latino youth.

San Dieguito Alliance compiles the Hispanic Network Directory in English and Spanish, listing all the Latino community members and service providers which is distributed at the Hispanic Network Breakfasts, and upon request.

Our next bi annual Hispanic Network Breakfast will be:
    Friday, November 21, 7:30am
MiraCosta Community College - San Elijo Campus

    PTA/PTO Presidents Brunch

San Dieguito Alliance hosts an annual brunch for the incoming and outgoing PTA/PTO presidents in our region. At the luncheon, PTA leaders are provided information concerning alcohol, tobacco and other drug problems and prevention strategies in our region. We describe our youth prevention programs - STUDY BUDDY, TEEN PRESENTERS and PROJECT YO. We thank them for their partnership in providing the STUDY BUDDY programs at their schools and introduce the STUDY BUDDY Coordinators. We supply future RED RIBBON WEEK information, including upcoming trainings for Red Ribbon Week chairs. The PTA/PTO leaders receive a roster of the parent leaders in the region.

    Parent and School meetings

San Dieguito Alliance participates in the monthly Student Success Services planning meetings held at the high schools within the San Dieguito Union High School District's high schools.

    • The Torrey Pines High School's Student Success Services (SSS) planning meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month at noon in the administration conference room.

SSS believes that the physical, emotional and social well-being are as important to learning as are intellectual growth and development. SSS links parents, teachers, students, community members, administrators and counselors in collaborative programs to further student connectedness and well-being.

SSS forums are offered throughout the school year for parents, students and community members. Guest speakers address current topics of concern. Open dialog and sharing of information and ideas are an integral part of the program.
